In collaboration with the Parkinson Vicenza Association, the Parkinson Project ran a series of art therapy workshops in 2022 and 2023 to support individuals with Parkinson’s. During the initial six months, participants explored basic techniques in painting and ceramics, engaging in both technical and experimental exercises. This phase laid the foundation for the following year, where sessions centered on creating personal artworks inspired by themes connected to living with Parkinson’s. The workshops took place weekly, with each two-hour session promoting self-expression and personal storytelling through creative exercises. These sessions encouraged participants to reflect on and share their experiences, fostering a sense of mutual understanding within the group. The activities provided therapeutic benefits, offering distraction from physical pain, a sense of purpose through creative planning, and strengthened social bonds. In group projects, participants chose roles and levels of engagement that matched their abilities, promoting both collective and individual empowerment. The project culminated in a large, collaborative artwork incorporating mixed media such as acrylic pigments, fabric, and wool. This final piece, now permanently displayed at the Parkinson Association headquarters, symbolizes the journey of resilience and artistic exploration shared by the participants, honoring their collective efforts and individual contributions.
