Sheets is a collaborative art initiative created within the “Albero d’Argento” psychogeriatric ward, part of Istituto Salvi. This project is rooted in the transformative power of art as a means of fostering creativity, connection, and self-expression among participants. Through a series of three workshops, participants worked together to create a monumental artwork using natural and mineral pigments on three large sheets. The final piece, measuring approximately 5 meters in height and 2.5 meters in width, depicts a vibrant tree, a symbol of growth, resilience, and collective effort. The process is as important as the result. Each session has been designed to engage participants in a meaningful way, allowing them to contribute according to their interests and abilities. From painting leaves and fruit to collaborating on the trunk and sky, each individual’s input has shaped the final work, creating a sense of shared ownership. This project not only transforms everyday materials like bed sheets into art but also represents the identity and experiences of those involved. By connecting the clinical environment with contemporary artistic practices, Sheets aims to highlight the therapeutic potential of art and its ability to inspire collaboration and joy. The completed artwork is displayed within the institute, celebrating the creativity and participation of its residents while inviting reflection on the role of art in social and therapeutic contexts.
