Revolver / 2023 - 2024
Revolver is a collaborative project with Lorenzo Adami, an artist on the autism spectrum, exploring how art fosters inclusion and social connection. Through bi-weekly workshops in Vicenza, we created a supportive environment where Lorenzo could express himself and develop his artistic voice. The project evolved through hands-on experimentation with painting techniques, eventually focusing on watercolor for its adaptability and expressive potential. This participatory process extended beyond artistic creation, encouraging Lorenzo to engage with public spaces and overcome personal challenges. Central to the project is the idea of shared authorship. For the first exhibition, In Honor of My Dog Miele, we presented works by Lorenzo alongside pieces by myself and his social educator, fostering an equal, collaborative narrative. To maintain his comfort and dignity, we adopted fictitious names, emphasizing the creative process over personal labels. In 2024, the workshops continued independently, with a renewed focus on producing completed works for a second exhibition. This new chapter culminated in Revolver: New Directions in the Art System at DoRobe, where Lorenzo’s paintings were displayed alongside a video in which he shares his artistic journey. This public platform not only amplified his voice but also highlighted how participatory art can reshape perceptions and promote social inclusion.
